Finally, I had lunch with my parents yesterday at Café Juanita. They’ve been wanting to bring me there, and yesterday was our lucky day. Café Juanita is a restaurant serving Filipino, Italian and Spanish cuisine, and is located at Kapitolyo, Pasig City. I’ve read a review about it in the newspaper, and now I know why people are raving about it.
From the food that they serve to its interiors, it’s a homey restaurant. To start off, I think it’s a house converted into a dining establishment. The place is decorated with lots of vibrant pieces such as feathers, Christmas lights and ornaments, and chandeliers. Antique items also add to the homey atmosphere. Some of the items are for sale. So if there is something you like, you can bring it home.
I ordered cream of asparagus soup, kare-kare and green mango shake. I just had to try their kare-kare, since it is one of my favorite Filipino dishes. Café Juanita didn’t fail me. It’s actually good even wihout bagoong. I also tried their callos, and it’s delicious. For dessert, mama ordered the sticky toffee pudding. I forgot to taste it because I was too engrossed taking its picture, but I bet it’s good.
Later that day, I went to help a friend, Jennifer, with her newest project. She’s coming up with a garage sale, but wants to post the items online about a month before the actual “sale date” (as she coins it). She contacted me to help with the photography of the items, which of course, I obliged. It was fun working with an improvised studio and may I say that she has A LOT of stuff (good ones, at that) considering she was already able to dispose of others. I’d post the pictures as soon as she gets the site up. I just don’t want to spoil her plan. Hehehe!
