Yesterday, I went to see
High School Musical 3 with my parents and niece, Emily and I'm taking the liberty of posting what I think of the film. With the third installment (in the big screen this time), I expected that the producers would exhaust all efforts to recover from the not-so-raved
High School Musical 2. According to
The Disney Blog,
High School Musical 3 raked in over $42 million in its first three days of showing.
I think it's best to get to the weak points first. There's nothing much with the story line. It's all about the phase of graduating and moving on to college. When you get that kind of plot, you know right away it's a teeny-bopper flick. They tried to show conflicts and predicaments as the characters go through their crossroad, but it's pretty much predictable. It may be interesting for kids and teens. I think Emily enjoyed it, though there were moments she would ask what was going on.
The good thing about the production is the choreography. It's better than the first two if you'd ask me. I especially enjoyed the ballroom-like "Can I Have This Dance." The brand of music really took off from the original High School Musical. Most of the songs sound really familiar with the hits from the original. The soundtrack may be interesting as well particularly the "graduation mix" of "We're All In This Together."
Overall I think the movie is ok, but not a must-see. It High School Musical 3 is a film suitable for kids and pre-adolescent individuals. If you like musicals, there is a good chance you may like it, but don't count too much on the story.
