Shopping for Black Shoes

Because my old pair of black shoes wore out again after an attempt to have it repaired the first time, I finally decided to get a new pair.  I've always been a fan of the shoe store that goes by the name of Traffic.  Their designs are classy and the shoes are durable.  Not the typical men's shoes.  Though relatively expensive, I don't mind shelling out extra since they don't give me a hard time when it comes to size.  Luckily, my timing was right.  They were on sale.  I was financially prepared to buy only a pair, but since the shoes were 50% off, I bought two - both labeled Frank.  By the way, if you happen to know where Frank originated, I'd appreciate it if you give me a buzz.

I badly needed black shoes for work, I bought an oxford and a plain one.

I'm eyeing another pair, but it wasn't on sale.  I'll wait until they go on sale with that one.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year

Yesterday, I went to see High School Musical 3 with my parents and niece, Emily and I'm taking the liberty of posting what I think of the film.  With the third installment (in the big screen this time), I expected that the producers would exhaust all efforts to recover from the not-so-raved High School Musical 2.  According to The Disney Blog, High School Musical 3 raked in over $42 million in its first three days of showing.

Jen Once Again

Yesterday at around 4 am, as I was watching Nip/Tuck in my laptop, I was surprised to receive a YM message.  At the back of my mind, "Who's awake at this hour?"  It was Jennifer!  She's one of my nicest friends in college.  She's now in New York looking for "Labels and Love." Hahahaha!  Too bad, I wasn't able to go to her despedida for reasons I'm sure you know. ;)

She was at the Apple Store at 5th Avenue!  We took advantage of the shop's webcam and internet connection and chatted for a while.  It was way past my bedtime, but what the heck!  Nurturing friendships is just as important.  Especially with my schedule right now, socializing is rare.  Well anyway, she also showed me around (through the webcam, of course) the Mecca of Mac products.  It's as if I was there!

Some People

In my line of work, I encounter different types of people.  Some of which I dislike. A number of unpleasant incidents have compelled me to air my abhorrence towards a group of people, which is sadly identifiable by an occupation.

If I were to describe the kind of behavior these people manifest, I would say they seem to have lost respect for people.  Their haughty approach is very inappropriate, uncalled for and offensive.  They also converse in a pretentious way in the hopes of giving the impression that they are powerful and more intellectual and in effect, intimidate the person they are talking to. Unfortunately for them, that style doesn't work on me. Most even end up humiliating themselves with their futile attempt.

It's really puzzling thinking about where they get that kind of bearing.  It could be from the nature of work, the environment or even an inborn trait.  It's unfair to those who have the same job, but don't display that misconduct.

I just hope they change because that behavior will backfire.

Sunday. Family Day.

Sunday is Family Day.  Last Sunday, I was able to spend time with family.  We started off at a park.  Manila Memorial Park.  It's to avoid the November 1 and 2 crowd.  It was more like a picnic if you'd ask me.  We had McDonald's for lunch under the shade and went to Dampa afterwards for something more filling.  It was good to see all my siblings, nephews and nieces again.  I took some pictures to capture the moments.

In the set, you'll see pictures of Emily with her new haircut posing with the umbrella and shades, Angelo and Antonio playing around, Julia's awake moments, and the rest of us.

Psyched

There's a TV series that keeps me from blogging these days.  It's Psych!  A few have probably heard of this witty TV series about Shawn Spencer, a guy who solves crime cases with his keen sense of observation.  He is so good with his skill, he's made the police department believe that he is psychic!  It's a comedic combination of CSI and Early Edition.

I discovered this series while spending one of my rest days channel surfing.  The first time I caught this, I'm hooked.  I can't remember the channel, the time slot and even the day it's on, BUT I now have seasons one and two in my hands.  *wink wink*

I've been watching some episodes before and after work (I'm that hooked!).  Two thumbs up!

Butterfly On A Wheel

Earlier this evening I watched Butterfly On A Wheel on Star Movies.  I don't remember this film being shown here in the Philippines.  Good thing it premiered on Star Movies.  

It’s another Gerard Butler film. During the first few scenes, I thought it was one of the typical hostage-ransom kind of movie, but as the story progressed, it became more interesting and more unpredictable.

It’s about a man, Neil (played by Butler) who has everything – a loving wife, a beautiful daughter and a successful career.  Everything anyone could ask for.  All of this changes when her daughter, Sophie, gets kidnapped.  Neil, together with his wife, Abby (Maria Bello), submits to the orders of the kidnapper (Pierce Brosnan).  The demands turn out to be more horrifying as the couple realizes he is not after money. 

I’d recommend this movie to those who are fond of mystery films.I thought it was an action-packed movie, but it appeals more to those who enjoy plot twists and surprise endings.  Who doesn’t?
