Perhaps most blogs on the net would have something to say about the recently concluded 81st Oscar Awards. From the the dresses actresses wore, to Hugh Jackman's hosting job, and to the winners, each may have his or her own opinion. Well, this blog is no exception. Since I didn't go to work because I wasn't feeling well (seriously), I had the chance to watch the Oscars on TV. It might not be much, but here are my thoughts.
The women who were stunning and really stood out that night were Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Amy Adams, Penelope Cruz, and Alicia Keys.
Photos from Yahoo.
Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, and Penelope Cruz are beautiful as expected. I had to hear Alicia Keys speak to recognize it was her. She looked different in a very good way.
Highlights of the evening were Hugh Jackman's highly energetic opening number and the acceptance speech of Heath Ledger's family for his award for best supporting actor. It was an expected win. I wasn't able to watch The Dark Knight, but a lot of people were really blown away by Mr. Ledger's performance. Maybe I should get a DVD copy. For those who weren't able to catch Hugh Jackman's unexpected musical number, here's the video:
At first, I thought the reason why got Hugh Jackman to host the Oscars is because he topped the sexiest list. Now I know the reason why he was picked for the job. More than the good looks, this guy's got talent! His performance reminded me he did The Boy From Oz. He did a great job hosting and entertaining everyone.
Isn't Anne Hathaway talented?! Looks like her team up with Julie Andrews did her well. But I guess she has been singing ever since.
Well going back to the Oscars, Slumdog Millionaire bagged almost all the awards it was nominated in, and this intrigues me and makes me want to watch the movie. With all those awards, it must be really good. I also have yet to see Kate Winslet's performance in The Reader to understand why she won in the Oscars and in the Golden Globes.

That's about it and I'm looking forward to next year's Oscars!

Maganda yung Slumdog Millionaire! You should watch it. :) Ang galing galing ni Anne Hathaway! Hehe nagustuhan ko din yung performance ni Hugh with Beyonce, Vanessa, Zac, and yung people from Mamma Mia. :)

Napanood mo na yung Slumdog Millionaire?! Waaaaa! Gusto ko siyang panoorin!
Ang galing ni Anne Hathaway! I have a feeling lip sync yung kay Beyonce. Hmmm... Pero cute nga yun!

Para ngang lip sync yung ibang parts nung kay Beyonce. Actually it was one of my least fave moments or maybe the pinaka-least na nga kasi I felt it was an unecessary number.
Agree na magaling si Hugh Jackman. Naging elegant yung show. He won an Emmy when he hosted the Tony Awards before so magaling siya as host.
And agree, I loooove Anne Hathaway!

'Di ba parang lip sync?! Hay...
Natuwa talaga ako kay Hugh Jackman at kay Anne Hathaway! Very entertaining and they were very good! Refreshing! Si Hugh Jackman parang nagta-transform talaga yung personality!

As for me..I happened to like the whole thing. It was a pleasant surprise to see the Oscars presented in such an elegant manner. Don't get me wrong, I also like the kind of comedy that Chris Rock does, but I think Hugh Jackman's style is better suited for the Oscars. (Gotta love Hugh Jackman!)
I was a little bit shocked on the success of Slumdog Millionaire, I didn't expect it to do so well, but I'm happy for them. Slowly, Asia is beginning to penetrate the Hollywood scene! Yay Asia!
Btw, I was able to watch The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger really deserved the Oscar as he left the whole theatre breathless during his scenes.
Lastly, I had hoped Body of Lies starring Dicaprio would get noticed, but it didn't. (Sad)

This year's Oscars is truly different. I think they wanted have the transition feel. Fusing the veteran stars with the new breed. I liked it as a whole too.
I hope Slumdog's victory will open the Academy's doors to diversity. The Oscars could turn out to be an international affair someday.
Body of Lies? I think I didn't get to watch that film.
