Last Friday, after celebrating Mama's 53rd birthday, my sister and I watched You Changed My Life. We were both intrigued by the lavish praises of people we know. We've been hearing nothing but good reviews about the film, so we decided to check the movie out and see where the ravings are coming from.
In a nutshell, I think the movie is relatively entertaining, compared to other love story themed Filipino movies. I'd have to agree with what my friend, Carmel, says about the film. It lacks a solid plot. Generally, it presents the problems that a couple with different priorities, encounter in their relationship. The audience is left to anticipate how the lovers will resolve their plight. It remains to be enjoyable with comic reliefs, memorable funny lines (with matching exaggerated gestures), and the perennial baduy-yet-kilig-moments that are staple to romantic-comedy movies.
It was an ok movie for me. Not really fantastic, but a refreshingly nice take on a love story.
While I can't understand the reason for the title, what concerns me more is the fact that Filipinos might be fixed to enjoy movies of such type. I am not saying that movies like You Changed My Life cheapens movie-goers, but with the film being a "box office hit," producers might not consider making films that are more profound and have more depth simply because only the feel-good ones sell.
I can't blame Filipinos. We really love comedy, but I do hope we also learn to give other genres a power hug.
And I'm not talking about horror movies...

Hey Quing! Alam mo sobrang curious din ako sa movie nato. I want to watch it, out of curiousity, kaya lang baka sa dvd nalang. :)

Hindi ko pa napapanood to, pero ang ganda ng wig ni Sarah no? Haha And, hindi ko alam kung tamad lang talaga mag-isip ng magandang titles yung mga movie makers, pero naming a movie based on a song is getting old na, no? Don't you think? Haha Yun lang, bow.

Nakakaaliw nga yung wig ni Sarah! Hahahaha!
Hehehehe!
