Now rain can acceptably pour. It’s already June and this also marks the end of summer for the Philippines, and the start of classes! But before the rainy season takes over the country, let me share with you my last hurrah for this year’s summer – Camarines Sur trip with my former officemates.
I have to admit it wasn’t one of my best trips, but I had fun getting acquainted with a region in the Philippines I hadn’t gone to. There were bumps along the way, but it didn’t diminish my passion to go places. Admittedly, what led to disappointments were the expectations I had prior to departure. I was expecting it to be a festive tour of Naga City and a lot of places to visit. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen that way.
On the first day, we were scheduled to tour Naga City, which was our landing point. I was told that a certain festival was happening so I was hoping to see parades and other festivities. However, it wasn’t that kind of fiesta which Filipinos are known for. We ended up visiting two churches: Metropolitan Cathedral and Our Lady of Peñafrancia Church.
Also, I was looking forward to a smooth check-in at CWC (Camsur Watersports Complex). We had to wait awhile before we finally settled in. I honestly didn’t know what was going on. I was too tired to find out. Moreover, it rained hard on our first day!
Even with check-in delays, I must say that accommodations in CWC are pretty cool!
The highlight of the day was wake boarding. It was more of knee boarding, actually. Since we were first-timers, we were asked to do it on our knees. It was so much fun! I really enjoyed it! It’s not as hard as I expected it to be.
The next day, we were very much excited to go check out the famous Caramoan islands. We were supposed to go island hopping, but it turned out to be island “hoping.” We were practically hoping to dock on the islands. The boatmen told us the low tide wouldn’t allow it. All the time was spent traveling by boat and it made our bodies ache. In the end we only got to enjoy one island, Matukad beach. Despite the inconveniences experienced, we were in awe of the beautiful rock formations we encountered during the boat trip!
That was Camarines Sur for me. I know that circumstances got in the way, so I want to give it another chance.
