Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of having lunch at Cerchio Grill & Lounge located along Scout Limbaga Street in Quezon City.
For starters, I tried their Grilled Tuna Sashimi and Singaporean Crispy Squid Heads.
Grilled Tuna Sashimi
I really enjoyed this dish! I like usual tuna sashimi, but this was my first time to try grilled tuna sashimi. It may be an acquired taste to some, but I like how the sides are cooked with char-marks and the center part of the sliced tuna, raw. You eat it like just like any other sashimi dipping it in soy sauce. If you have the palate for sashimi, I recommend you try this one.
Singaporean Crispy Squid Heads
What I like about this dish is that it’s crunchy and it has the perfect fusion of sweetness, saltiness and spiciness. However, I didn’t get to taste much of the squid and it was like biting into pure breading. I think that’s the trade off for making it so crispy.
For my main dish I ordered Grilled Pork and Chicken Adobo, and I also got to taste a bit of their Pork Barbecue Skewers.
Grilled Pork and Chicken Adobo
I’m not crazy about their version of this Filipino favorite simply because I still want that home=cooked adobo taste. It’s not bad at all. It just didn’t match my idea of adobo.
Cerchio’s Pork Barbecue Skewers
This one I liked better. Probably one of the best tasting barbecues I’ve tried. And also, the meat is so tender. I think it’s because instead of bamboo sticks, they use metal skewers which absorbs heat so it cooks the meat better from the inside. I’m just guessing. Hehe!
For dessert, I was hoping to try their carrot cake (my favorite cake), but it wasn’t available. So, we had to settle for Mango Float.
It looks like a very simple dessert (one you can do at home), but it tastes good! I say it’s a perfect end to my lunch out. The mangoes were refreshing and it doesn’t have an overpowering sweetness like most desserts do.
I definitely recommend you pay this place a visit. If you’re still deciding on where to dine with your significant other this Valentine’s Day, this could be one of your options. They’ll be having an eat-all-you-can ala carte on hearts’ day.
