To most Filipinos, boxing is one of the celebrated sports in the country that made Manny Pacquiao and the Philippines world famous. But former colleague, boxing writer Mark Villanueva, sees the sport as an avenue to change the lives of underprivileged kids earnestly desiring a better life for them and for their family. He fulfills his philanthropic dream of keeping the underprivileged youth out of the streets by giving them free boxing training at The Mark F. Villanueva Boxing Academy.
The Mark F. Villanueva Boxing Academy gives an opportunity for the kids who do not have the means to discover and develop their passion for boxing. Furthermore, it supports a greater cause of restoring the kids’ feeling of self worth with the values and talents imparted to them by their mentors. Spending time in the gym instead of wandering in the streets saves boxing scholars from getting into vices and commiting crimes.
